Disappointment
Listening to:

"May I have your name again please?"

"Ria. Ria Rigoroso."

"Alright, one moment please."

There was silence. I held my breath as I heard the man on the other line ruffle through some papers.

"Ria?"

"Yes?"

Silence.

"I'm sorry, but your name isn't here on the list of those who have been accepted."

"...Oh. Haha. I see. Thank you."

As I hung up, I couldn't bring myself to look at my mom who was sitting across the table from me.

"You didn't make it, did you?"

I could see her face in my mind. Disappointment? Sadness? Most likely both. I put my face in my hands. After calming down, I asked her where we were going out to.

"Rockwell."

"Oh ok. Haha. Sahara?"

"Yeah."

A pause. I then said.

"There are still two days left."

"..."

"I'm going upstairs for a bit."

"Ok."

Then I cried.
